10 Cheapest Cars for 2013

10 Cheapest Cars for 2013

Everyone remembers their very first vehicle. Mine was a 1998 Buick Century – a real burgundy beauty! Oh, the days we’ve shared together, the memories, the horrors we endured. At that time that’s all that was affordable to me.
Fast forward to October 16, 2012 and you’ll find me driving an almost-new Nissan Versa. Cars have come a long way in become more affordable and you’ll notice that the vehicle I drive is rather cheap compared to the entire selection of brands and models out there.
To find out just how cheap, I’ve compiled a list of 10 brand new budget cars that are fairly affordable for an average person:

1) 2013 Nissan Versa S – $11,990

2013 Nissan Versa
For old-school drivers who prefer manual over automatic, there’s the new Nissan Versa S. Starting at an amazingly low $11,990 the Versa never seizes to amaze me. As a Versa owner myself, this is the top vehicle on  my budget auto-shopping list. This full size sedan packs a lot more punch for the buck with a 109-hp engine. With an average of 31.5 MPG, gas savings are plentiful (for all of us here in California that’s a huge relief). My personal Versa favorites include the size of the trunk (it seems to fit just about anything there) and the fact that it doesn’t feel as cheap as some of its competitors. From experience, Versa’s acceleration is already quite slow so I can’t imagine any less horsepower in a vehicle of the same price range.

2) 2013 Chevrolet Spark LS – $12,245

2013 Chevy Spark
With gas prices on the rise, anyone will be happy to drive the new Chevy Spark which will average 32.5 MPG. A go to vehicle for every-day life and work commute, the 84-hp Spark LS is priced attractively at $12,245 MSRP. Spark is the newest creation by Chevy to complete its vehicle lineup with a mini model for the urban hipster. Available with a built in command deck to access all of your audio, video and smart phone linkup. If safety is your thing, rest assured your you’re covered there with Spark’s 10 standard air bags. Chevy isn’t kidding about this one, they are throwing in a 5-year, 100,000 mile warranty to compete with the current market players. The Spark is a serious contender for those on a budget.

3) 2013 Smart ForTwo Pure Coupe – $12,490

2013 Smart ForTwo
The so called unboring, fun car to drive. You’ve all seen a Smart cruising around by now and have your own impression of this compact vehicle. The 70-hp engine coupled with a five-speed manual transmission promises to make for a fun drive. Smart ForTwo comes with a 48 month/50,000 mile warranty – somewhat subpar with the other budget vehicle choices but one to keep in mind nevertheless. Expect combined fuel efficiency of 36 MPG and some of the most thought-through safety features matching those of a racecar’s roll cage.

4) 2013 Ford Fiesta S – $13,200

2013 Ford Fiesta S
This new subcompact may seem small to some, but shouldn’t be mistaken as a vehicle for a small person. Roomy on the inside and stylish on the outside, Fiesta makes my top 10 picks. Being one of the top contenders in price range is nice, but what’s even nicer is averaging 33 MPG combined fuel efficiency and it’s standard features such as power locks and mirrors, air-conditioning, tilt-and-telescoping steering and an auxiliary audio jack. Powered by a 120-hp engine, Fiesta sits smack down in the middle of the rest. And that color, isn’t it pretty?

5) 2013 Toyota Yaris L – $14,370

2013 Toyota Yaris L
When my mom went shopping for a Toyota, it was the first year the Yaris was out. The Yaris set a standard for many of today’s subcompacts and has been evolving ever since. Although sedan version of Yaris is no more, there’s much to be excited for in the improved-look hatchback. Averaging 34 MPG, the 106-hp engine makes Yaris just a bit less snappy then many of its competitors. However, don’t be fooled by horsepower alone, the new Yaris makes up with style and versatility where others fall short. Roomy, efficient, safe – this car shouldn’t disappoint.

6) 2013 Kia Soul – $14,400

2013 Kia Soul
SUV’s will have to watch out for this Small Utility Vehicle, pushing the boundaries of boxy designs and high fuel efficiency. With 31 MPG combined fuel efficiency, slick design and roomy interior, Kia has a soul! The Soul baseline model comes with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 135-hp. Expect standard climate control, power windows, locks and mirrors and satellite radio. What makes this vehicle stand out from the rest is it’s practicality. Perfect for short and long distance driving, with ample space and great features, this boxy car may just be the perfect contender for the top 10 cheapest cars in 2013 list.

7) 2013 Hyundai Accent GLS – $14,545

2013 Hyundai Accent
Perhaps the best contender in the subcompact 2013 lineup, the Hyundai Accent looks sharp and boasts 138-hp 1.6L 4-cylinder engine. With 9 colors to choose from, that’s almost double the other competitor choices. The automaker has designed the new Accent with interior space and exterior style in mind and seems to accomplish both goals with elegance. If considering a Hyundai, be sure to take a look at warranty details as my good friend fromSee Debt Run has mentioned having issues with getting his honored. Overall the Hyundai Accent is looking like an excellent competitor in the 2013 lineup and is not to be overlooked when shopping for a budget vehicle.

8) 2013 Honda Fit – $15,325

2013 Honda Fit
When shopping for a reliable vehicle, Honda has always made the top of my list. Nobody can argue Honda’s record for producing quality, affordable vehicles. The new 2013 Honda Fit base model comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission 1.5L 4-cyl. engine. It’s not the EV version that costs a few extra bucks but it’s the same stylish vehicle Honda has had great success with in the United States. Only when you see inside this vehicle that you can really appreciate the art and beauty of it’s design. Practical, spacious and creative, the Fit is perfect for short and long distance driving. The only thing that disappoints a bit is the sub-par combined 29 MPG which should have been around 37 in my opinion.

9) 2013 Kia Forte LX – $15,400

2013 Kia Forte LX
The Kia forte is a vehicle that is a little bit larger the subcompact, but a little bit smaller than a midsize vehicle. Just like most vehicles in this class, the Kia forte has received a European-styled look. The styling is very clean, crisp, and has graceful lines. The gas mileage is about average at 26 for the city and 36 for the highway. This is pretty reasonable considering it’s powered by a 2.0 L, 156-hp four-cylinder engine. It comes with a six speed automatic and the LX models have a six speed manual transmission. The performance of this vehicle is very value conscious and has just enough power to do the job.  The front seats have adequate amount room for the average size adult, but the rear seats are little snug for adults. If you don’t mind getting a little cozy, you can probably squeeze three people in the back in a pinch. The base forte is for the budget conscious and does not come with air-conditioning. You’ll be surprised to know that all models come with Bluetooth, Sirius satellite radio, steering wheel controls, and voice activation.  The upper end models include features such as fog lights, trim and upholstery upgrades, XM traffic, upgraded climate controls, pushbutton start, 16 inch alloy wheels and a lot more upgrades.  Get your own Kia forte for $15,400!

10) 2013 Ford Focus S – $16,200

2013 Ford Focus S
If you’re looking for an economical but sleek and stylish car that is under $16,500, this is the car for you. This car is tech focused and a very fun car to drive. The interior feels more like a European sports sedan rather than a budget conscious car. There is plenty of leg and head room for people that are 6 feet and taller. The base model comes with a 2.0 L direct injected four-cylinder engine that produces 160-hp with 146 foot-pounds of torque. Not bad for the base model.  Now, if you’re looking for a little more performance and handling, step up to the focus ST. This version is an absolute rush and has a whopping 240hp turbocharged eco-boost engine. This propels the car from 0 to 60 in just 6.3 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph. The cars well-equipped and has several options such as a Sony sound system, HD radio with Sirius satellite radio, sports seat, a sport suspension.

But Wait, There is More…

For the super frugal who’s out shopping for a new car, you may want to wait for the Nano. India’s Tata has redesigned its mini car Nano to arrive here in U.S. within 3 years. Price tag? Somewhere below $10,000. What this is going to do to prices of used cars is anyone’s guess, but I have a feeling it’ll be the new alternative to used cars.

The Top 15 Cheapest New Cars of 2012

There are a few changes in 2012 versus the 2011 cheapest new cars list. Most notably, Chevy retired the drab and tired Aveo and replaced it with the beefed-up Sonic, which comes in as the 6th least expensive new vehicle. The brand new Scion IQ displaces the Scion XB, and comes in as the 5th lowest cost car for the 2012 model year. And the Fiat 500 Pop makes the list, in its inaugural model year. J-Lo would be proud.
A few returnees boost better fuel efficiency this year, particularly the Kia and Hyundai models as they move to improved 1.6L 6-speed automatic transmissions. I decided to include engine specs this year if you’d like to make comparisons.
All of the vehicles you will find on the list have automatic transmission. Why? It’s hard to find, negotiate, and re-sell manuals. If you are interested in manuals, each model, excluding the Scion’s have them. They to run roughly $1,000 less than the MSRP’s I quoted, but their limited availability may prevent your ability to find and negotiate (if you have 25 vs. 2 to choose from on a lot and other dealers locally have the same numbers, your negotiating power goes up).

The Used Vs. New Debate

Before running out any buying a shiny new car, do your homework to make sure it is the best use of your money. Be honest with yourself in evaluating whether you in fact need a car in the first place, and if you have a significant other, whether you need a second car.
If you do need a car, new cars might not present the best value for you – although, this list is a good place to start for value. If you get a new car, baby it, and ride it until its death, it is possible to get a better return for your investment than buying used. However, keep in mind that new cars lose 11% of their value as soon as they are driven off the lot, on average.

Other Factors to Consider with a Cheap Car

Beyond the prices I’ve listed, there are some other considerations you should have when shopping for a new car:
  • Fuel economy is important. A Scion IQ, for example, would save you over $400 every year in fuel costs vs. the new Chevy Sonic. My source for fuel costs is fueleconomy.gov, which used a $3.23 average per gallon with 45% highway, 55% city miles, and 15,000 annual miles.
  • New models are unlikely to offer up big incentives until the end of their model year. It’d be wise to wait. I did not factor incentives in to the prices listed.
  • Ongoing costs and insurance costs for cheap cars is generally lower, but you don’t want to sacrifice safety. Make sure a car you choose rates high on safety.

Foreign Automakers Still Own the Market for the Cheapest Vehicles

Foreign Automakers claim ownership of 13 of the 15 cheapest new cars. Only the new Chevy Sonic and last year’s new Ford Fiesta make the list from the U.S. automakers. Topping the list with the most models are Kia (3), Scion (2), Nissan (2),and Honda (2). Smart, Hyundai, Chevy, Ford, and Toyota are each represented by one model on the list.

My Picks for the Most Improved & Best Cheapest New Cars of 2012

The Soul, Fit, and Fiesta are still personal favorites for their functionality, styling, and price. However, I have to hand it to the Versa for being a solid car with improved fuel efficiency (25 mpg to 30 city, and 33 to 38 in the city) and still comfortably being the second cheapest.
The once-ugly Kia Rio is now rather stylish, is $495 cheaper than last year, and jumps from 27 to 30 mpg city and 36 to 40 highway. It gets my pick for having the best improvement from last year to 2012.
Without further ado, here are the 15 cheapest new cars of 2012 from #15 up to #1. What’s your favorite?

15. Honda Civic

2012 Honda CivicBase Automatic Transmission model: Honda Civic DX, 2-door Sedan
Engine: 1.8L, 5-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 140 HP
MSRP: $17,175
Dealer Cost: $15,728
City MPG: 28
Highway MPG: 39
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,514
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: The 2012 Civic is re-styled. With a $1,400 spread between MSRP and dealer cost, there may be room to negotiate.

14. Fiat 500

2012 Fiat 500Base Automatic Transmission model: Fiat 500 Pop, 2-Door Hatchback
Engine: 1.4L, 6-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 101 HP
MSRP: $17,000
Dealer Cost: $15,905
City MPG: 27
Highway MPG: 34
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,785
Powertrain Warranty: 4 years or 50,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: As a guy, I hate to admit it (it’s definitely branded for the ladies), but this is kind of a cool car. Reminds me of the VW bug in appearances. The standard base model is pretty loaded in features. One disappointment? For a 1.4L, 6-speed, it gets very poor fuel economy.

13. Kia Forte

2012 Kia ForteBase Automatic Transmission model: Kia Forte LX 4-Door Sedan
Engine: 2.0L, 6-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 156 HP
MSRP: $16,950
Dealer Cost: $15,644
City MPG: 29
Highway MPG: 36
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,671
Powertrain Warranty: 10 years or 100,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Notes: Similar to the Kia Rio, but with more engine and slightly lower fuel economy.

12. Scion XD

2012 Scion XDBase Automatic Transmission model: Scion XD 4-Door Hatchback
Engine: 1.8L, 4-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 128 HP
MSRP: $16,875
Dealer Cost: $15,755
City MPG: 27
Highway MPG: 33
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,671
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 100,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: If Scion wants to remain competitive with other automakers, they will need to focus on fuel efficiency. A 4-speed auto transmission is behind the game.

11. Honda Fit

2012 Honda FitBase Automatic Transmission model: Honda Fit 4-Door Hatchback
Engine: 1.5L, 5-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 117 HP
MSRP: $16,745
Dealer Cost: $16,022
City MPG: 28
Highway MPG: 35
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,563
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: Great functionality. Only comes in a hatch (it runs on a Civic base).

10. Kia Soul

2012 Kia SoulBase Automatic Transmission model: Kia Soul 4-Door Hatchback
Engine: 1.6L, 6-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 138 HP
MSRP: $16,450
Dealer Cost: $15,379
City MPG: 27
Highway MPG: 35
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,615
Powertrain Warranty: 10 years or 100,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Notes: 1.6L now available in 6-speed transmission, with better fuel economy.

9. Hyundai Accent

2012 Hyundai AccentBase Automatic Transmission model: Hyundai Accent GLS, 4-Door Sedan
Engine: 1.6L, 6-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 138 HP
MSRP: $15,955
Dealer Cost: $15,239
City MPG: 30
Highway MPG: 40
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,468
Powertrain Warranty: 10 years or 100,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Notes: I have not been in this car, but it has a cult-like following. 40 mpg highway is impressive.

8. Mazda 2

2012 Mazda 2Base Automatic Transmission model: Mazda 2 Sport 4-Door Hatchback
Engine: 1.5L, 4-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 100 HP
MSRP: $15,775
Dealer Cost: $14,354
City MPG: 28
Highway MPG: 34
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,514
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 100,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: Has 4-speed auto trans vs. its cousin Fiesta’s 6-speed, giving it lower fuel economy. It does, however, offer a better warranty than the Fiesta.

7. Toyota Yaris

2012 Toyota YarisBase Automatic Transmission model: Toyota Yaris 2-Door L (Liftback/Hatchback)
Engine: 1.5L, 4-Speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 106 HP
MSRP: $15,600
Dealer Cost: $15,033
City MPG: 30
Highway MPG: 35
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,514
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: Solid car is now restyled. Like the Scion, it’d benefit with value seekers in a move from a 4 to 6-speed engine.

6. Chevy Sonic

2012 Chevy SonicBase Automatic Transmission model: Chevy Sonic 2 LS 4-Door Sedan
Engine: 1.8L, 6-speed Auto, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 138 HP
MSRP: $15,565
Dealer Cost: $14,973
City MPG: 25
Highway MPG: 35
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,730
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 100,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: New model from Chevy that replaces the Chevy Aveo. Would love to see this in a 1.4L in future years for improved mpg’s. 25 city is low for a car of this size.

5. Scion IQ

2012 Scion IQBase Automatic Transmission model: Scion IQ 2-Door Hatchback
Engine: 1.3L, Continuously Variable Auto Transmission (CVT), 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 94 HP
MSRP: $15,265
Dealer Cost: $14,936
City MPG: 36
Highway MPG: 37
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,309
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: New model from Scion, the IQ launches in California now and Midwest in March. It has the highest city MPG of any non-hybrid. It doesn’t look to be much bigger than a Smart Car, but has a bulkier build with big wheels.

4. Kia Rio

2012 Kia RioBase Automatic Transmission model: Kia Rio LX 4-Door Sedan
Engine: 1.6L, 6-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 138 HP
MSRP: $15,250
Dealer Cost: $14,325
City MPG: 30
Highway MPG: 40
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,468
Powertrain Warranty: 10 years or 100,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Notes: $495 price decrease bumps it from #7 to #4 on the list. It also moves from 4 to 6-speed, bumping fuel economy from 36 to 40 on the highway. All of this, and its improved styling makes it the most improved car from 2011 to 2012.

3. Ford Fiesta

2012 Ford FiestaBase Automatic Transmission model: Ford Fiesta S Sedan, 4-Door
Engine: 1.6L, 6-speed Auto Transmission, 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 138 HP
MSRP: $15,090
Dealer Cost: $14,157
City MPG: 33
Highway MPG: 39
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,468
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: Great car. But the bigger (and not much more expensive) Focus is worth a look.

2. Nissan Versa

2012 Nissan VersaBase Automatic Transmission model: Nissan Versa Sedan 1.6S, 4 Door
Engine: 1.6L, Continuously Variable Auto Transmission (CVT), 16-valve, 4 cylinder, 109 HP
MSRP: $13,520
Dealer Cost: $12,907
City MPG: 30
Highway MPG: 38
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,468
Powertrain Warranty: 5 years or 60,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 3 years or 36,000 miles
Notes: Some nice improvements in 2012 versus 2011. MPG’s jump from 25 and 33 with the continuously variable transmission. With its price, it deserves a look.

1. Smart ForTwo Pure

2012 Smart FortwoBase Automatic Transmission model: Smart ForTwo Pure Coupe
Engine: 1.0L, 5-speed Auto Transmission, 12-valve, 3 cylinder, 70 HP
MSRP: $12,490
Dealer Cost: $11,991
City MPG: 33
Highway MPG: 41
Annual Fuel Cost: $1,458
Powertrain Warranty: 2 years or 24,000 miles
Limited Basic Warranty: 2 years or 24,000 miles
Notes: Good, but not ground-breaking mileage in a golf cart size, the worst warranty in the business, and a price that does not entirely set it apart from the competition? Other than being the cheapest car, it comes up a bit short.

America's 12 Cheapest Cars

With oil hitting $147 a barrel last week and gas prices averaging $4.10 nationwide, all of a sudden cheap, small, simple cars are much more appealing.
It's something General Motors (nyse:GM - news people ) has noticed, as evidenced by the company's announcement this week of major cuts to its truck division as part of a multibillion-dollar restructuring. Similarly, Toyota(nyse: TM - news people ) is halting truck production for three months at its U.S. plants.
While the backbone of the cheap-car market has been, traditionally, first-time car buyers, current gas prices are boosting the market for cars $15,000 and under by 17%, according to auto analysts. From the commuter to the family to the cash-strapped and every type of driver in between, small cars are increasingly popular.
While the low prices do reflect a lack of luxury when compared to sedans or SUVs, there's no shortage of options when it comes to cheap cars. Enough, in fact, for buyers to be picky, and wind up with a quality ride with enough bells and whistles to suit their individual needs.

In Pictures: America's 12 Cheapest Cars

"There is nothing bare-bones about theFit," says Ed Kim, director of industry analysis at AutoPacific Inc., an automotive marketing and product-consulting company, referring toHonda's (nyse: HMC - news people ) $13,950 car, ranked at No. 11 on our list. The Fit is a small car, built with the same production quality as the higher-end $21,160 Honda Accord. It comes standard with an adjustable steering column and four-speaker audio system with speed-sensitive volume control that automatically becomes louder when driving at faster speeds and softer at lower speeds. The car gets 30 mpg for the automatic transmission, and is equipped with multiple airbags in the front, rear and side.
Other vehicles among the cheapest cars available are the Chevrolet Aveo, ranked No. 2 at $11,460; the Toyota Yaris, third at $11,550; and the Kia Spectra, fifth at $12,895.

Varied as the options may be right now, however, that might not be the case in the future. Low-priced cars are often competing with higher-end, inexpensive used cars, the result of automakers building vehicles that are more durable, reliable and longer-lasting, says Alexander Edwards, automotive division president of the market research firm Strategic Vision.Just The Basics
If price is your only concern, and you want the absolute cheapest new car available in America, it's the Korean-made Kia Rio, which starts at $10,890. At that price you get a five-speed manual transmission with a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine that gets an EPA-estimated 29 mpg. What you don't get, however, is an air conditioner, audio system, power window or power door locks. But you do get a complete airbag system that includes front-seat mounted side airbags and side curtain airbags. To get the aforementioned basic amenities and an automatic transmission, buyers would instead have to go with the Rio LX, which starts at $12,815.
The newest addition to the cheap car market is the Smart Fortwo, a two-seater powered by a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine. It produces 71 horsepower and gets an EPA-estimated 36 mpg. Popular in Europe for several years now, the Smart made its debut last year in the U.S. as a 2008 model-year vehicle and ranks fourth on our list. There are only three versions available; the base model Pure is priced at $11,590 with a manual transmission. It is the only vehicle on our list that offers power locks and electronic stability control as standard, which helps drivers better maintain control in adverse situations.
If these cars seem a little too basic, keep in mind that it's impossible to buy a new car for less than about $11,000, says Edwards. About 10 years ago, there were some vehicles available at, or below, that price--like the Geo Metro, which GM discontinued in 1997. Blame the price hikes on inflation and general improvements, such as nicer interiors and added standard safety features. That combination caused the price of cheap cars to increase 20% to 30% since the 1990s, says Edwards.
Safety First
All of the vehicles on the list have standard or optional side-impact and side curtain airbags, but you may have to purchase a higher-priced version if you want additional safety features. However, all of the safety equipment does little to help save lives in the event of a crash involving a small car and bigger vehicle.
On the bright side, though, today's small cars are safer than ever before, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Toyota Yaris, Smart Fortwo Pure, Honda Fit and Nissan Versa all earned the IIHS "good" rating in front- and side-impact crash tests, making them among the safest cars on the list. The Versa and the Mitsubishi Lancer (the latter earned “good” for front testing but has not been tested for side impact) were the only vehicles on the list to earn “good” in rear-impact testing. The Versa is the safest car on the list, having earned triple “good” ratings in all three areas.
Auto analysts expect automakers to continue making improvements--safety and otherwise--as a new generation of demanding buyers comes of age. (Americans aged 14-30, many of whom have yet to take driver's training, number 76 million, about the same size as the Baby Boomer generation.) But improvements to these cars to suit those buyers will come at a cost: While cheap cars will get better, their prices will creep up the more they're packed with appealing features.
"Generation Y buyers have grown up with technology, conveniences and luxury," says Kim. "They don't want to earn things; they want them now, and they expect them now. Automakers are scrambling to get high-end features into small vehicles."
